18/03/2024 - What improvements have Easitape made to assist in the environmental impact of SA?
We at Easitape understand the importance of doing our part to be as Environmentally Friendly as possible.
After all we would like to leave a healthy and thriving planet in our wake, for many more Generations to be able to enjoy a fresh breath of air.
South Africa has surely done its part to add to the ever growing global Carbon Footprint, due to industrial manufacturing and mining practises.
Being among the top 14th largest emitters of greenhouse gasses globally, each individual and company need to do all we can to improve the current statistics.
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from fossil fuel and industrial purposes in South Africa from 1970 to 2022
Due to one of South Africa’s main economic income being from the mining of fossil fuels and other strategic resources, there will always be a constant emission from the various industries.
Which is why we need to find alternative ways to decrease the CO2 emissions as a country.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic there was a drastic change in the effects the greenhouse gasses were having on the Ozone Layer.
During the lockdown that was implemented, nature recovered up to 80% of the ozone layer, notoriously dirty waterways cleared up, wild animals found their way into cities.
It just goes to show if everyone did their part for benefit of the planet, change can be made for the better and the future of Earth.
What Improvements have Easitape taken to assists in the environmental impact of SA?
Firstly we have signed up for a membership with Polyco.
Polyco PRO NPC is a non-profit company focused on making waste a valuable resource that works for our economy. They aim to grow the collection and recycling of plastic packaging in South Africa, to promote the responsible use and reuse of this plastic packaging and to end plastic waste in the environment.
Polyco is focused on three key strategic pillars – we invest in recycling innovation for new end use market development, recycling infrastructure for capacity building and efficiency and recycling education and awareness in South Africa and we collaborate with multiple stakeholders to achieve success in these areas.
Polyco is funded by their members, who contribute to recycling in South Africa.
Secondly we have signed up to have fibre internet in the place of the LTE Internet.
But it’s just internet, how does this effect the environment?
The internet currently accounts for 3.7% of global carbon emissions, which are projected to double by 2025.
Traditional cables made of copper wire transmit connections as electrical signals, but copper extraction has significant environmental impacts. Fibre optic cables are constructed using silicon dioxide, a naturally occurring compound derived from two abundant elements found on Earth: silicon and oxygen.
Reducing metal extraction, like copper, is key to limiting global warming. Fibre optic cables offer a more sustainable alternative, minimizing environmental harm. Their production conserves resources, reduces waste, protects groundwater, and lowers carbon emissions. Embracing fibre optics is crucial for a sustainable digital future.
We are excited to witness the positive repercussions of this fibre internet investment on all fronts.
Lastly the Solar Panels we have installed, will reduce our footprint in the most impactful sense.
The burning of fossil fuels is South Africa’s main way of generating power. The burning of fossil fuels is one of the main contributor to CO2 emissions globally.
With an abundant power source being provided to us by nature itself, we decided to make use of the gift we have been given and use the Solar Power to our benefit.

9/11/2023 - Metal detectable Spliing!
Metal detectable splicing tape is a type of tape that is commonly used in industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and packaging where contamination from foreign objects, including tape fragments, poses a risk. It is designed to be easily detectable by metal detectors commonly found in production lines.
Metal detectable splicing tape contains a thin layer of aluminum which is integrated into its construction. This metal layer makes the tape visible to metal detection systems, allowing it to be easily detected if it becomes dislodged or contaminates the product.
The tape is black in color, as blue and black is a color that is easily distinguishable from most food products and packaging materials. This makes it easy to identify and remove any tape fragments that may have entered the product during the manufacturing process.
Metal detectable splicing tape is often used for securing and joining different materials in the production line, such as plastic films, cardboard, or paper. It helps ensure that if any tape ends up in the final product, it can be detected and removed before it reaches the consumer.

The school year is almost over, and the big fish of primary schools are moving on to the big schools to become little fish again. We all know how hectic this move can be if you're not prepared, but Easitape is here to help.

A clear liquid to assist with the bonding of your Etape tapes. This ensures that your tape will bond to its full capacity and provide you with a long-lasting and durable adhesion. Available in 1Litre and 100ml containers.
What is this used for?
• Promotes adhesion for tapes to surfaces such as polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS and PET/PBT blends.

15/09/2023 - How To Get The Most Out Of Etape
When looking for a new tape solution for an application your best option is to contact one of our specialists who are always willing and able to recommend a product that will suit your needs. We can however only do so much when it comes how the tape is applied and stored.
With this being said, here are some tips and things to remember when using our tape to ensure the best performance of the product.
All of our Adhesives are Pressure Sensitive
This means pressure must be added when applying the tape for it to properly bond with the surface it is being applied to. The more pressure, the better the tape will perform!
Ensure the surface is clean!
Adhesive will always try bond with the first thing it touches. If there is dust or dirt on the surface the adhesive will bond to that instead of to the surface as required. Before applying the tape, clean the surface thoroughly with water and a clean cloth.
Keep the tape dry.
Where you store the product can often make or break the product’s performance when you use it. Make sure the tape is stored in a dry area at room temperature. Water could ruin the finish or strength of the product especially if it is paper based or has a certain finish required for the application. When applying the tape, you must also ensure the surface is dry before applying to ensure the adhesive bonds correctly. Once applied, our adhesive will not be affected at all by water.
Importance of Temperature
We have many hotmelt adhesive tapes in our range. These adhesives can be majorly affected by the temperature of the room in which they are stored. If the room is bitterly cold the adhesive will harden and struggle to bond when used. If the room is overly hot, this adhesive could melt slightly causing uneven coating weights (amount of adhesive) on the roll, meaning some parts of the roll could bond superbly while other parts barely bond at all.

Insulation Tape is a weird and wonderful product. It has so many uses for it and the list keeps growing every year, from insulating electrical wires and cables to holding your broken rugby boots together.
Insulation tape was invented by John J Ryan in 1920 and it was created to insulate electrical wires. It was made from cloth and a rubber which was very impressive for their times. The tape was upgraded to a base material of Polyvinyl Chloride commonly known as PVC in 1930. The PVC material made the insulation tape water resistant, flame retardant and durable and open a world of applications for the tape.
In 1940’s insulation tape was very popular during the second World War. Insulation tape was used to fix radios, weapons, and other equipment. People used to use insulation tape as part of a bandage. The insulation tape was combined with a piece of cloth to bandage minor injuries. The list of application just growing from using insulation that colours for fashion and camouflage to using it to create artwork and sculptures. Today insulation tapes have come a long way. I have been using insulation tape as my own repair kit for my glasses and rugby boots.
Insulation tape is an amazing product that has come a long way and I know it still has a long way to go.

13/07/2023 - High Temperature Polyester Masking Tape for Electro Plating
Electroplating is a process of depositing a thin layer of metal onto a surface. This process is used to protect surfaces from corrosion, to improve the appearance of surfaces, and to add decorative features.
One of the most important steps in electroplating is masking off the areas that you do not want to be plated. This is done to prevent the metal from being deposited in unwanted areas.
High temperature polyester masking tape is a great option for masking off areas before electroplating. This tape is made from a polyester film that is heat resistant up to 400°F (204°C). The adhesive on the tape is also heat resistant, so it will not melt or delaminate during the electroplating process.

Our polyester adhesive and sew-on hook and loop tapes are two different types of products that can be used to secure items together.
Both have a wide range of uses and offer a durable and reliable bonding process.
Hook-and-loop tape is a self-adhesive or non-adhesive tape that consists of two components.
The first component is a hook side which has small plastic hooks on one side.
The second component is a loop side which has small fluffy loops on the other side.
When both sides are pressed together, they form an incredibly strong bond that holds two surfaces in place.

One thing that separates Easitape from the packaging industry is our out of the box thinking & keen eye in staying ahead of the game.
Fumigation Tape – SS08
When fumigating any dry goods mainly Tobacco, Seeds ,Grains ,Nuts ,Spices etc. you need to adhere to obvious laws and a maintained fumigation process that follows the correct procedures & protocols.
The obvious reasoning for this is safety as the fumigant present could be harmful to those who come into contact with this BUT just as serious is a failed fumigation .
A failed fumigation could and has cost hundreds of thousands of Rands & sometimes even into the millions depending of the severity of failure and what amount of product has been lost .
A good example of this is at least 1% of all warehoused tobacco in just the USA alone is being lost which equates to over 5 billion Rand due to the tobacco beetle(Lasioderma Serricorne).
But do not let the name fool you. The tobacco beetle causes damage to a variety of stored products.
These include cereal, dates, dried fish, ginger, grain, pepper, pharmaceuticals, raisins and seeds contaminating them with excrement and dead bodies which can destroy entire stores of food.
In order to prevent this nightmarish occurrence you would make use of what is known as stack fumigation as per below example:
You would “stack” your goods in specific columns and cover this with a tarp or a virgin grade LDPE plastic which can range from a 120Mic to a 270 Mic .
To ensure the safe & tight seal you shall need to tape down that material with Easitapes SS08 Fumigation Tape to secure and lock all the vapours into the designated stack .
The SS08 has an easy to use cloth tape material finish that is easy to tear & is laminated with a premium hot melt rubber .

With the ability to do our own in-house custom printing, it allows us to create a product you will be proud to use for any barrier or trenching application. We are able to run under surface prints on LDPE (100 Micron) of up to four colours with a backing colour and above surface prints on BOPP (80 Microns) of up to four colours with a backing colour as well which means our barrier tape is both durable and pleasing to the eye.
Barrier tape has a variety of applications such as closing off areas that you need to keep contained, demarcating pipes that are filled with hazardous substances as well as warning others of what is ahead.

We are very proud of our in-house bag manufacturing departments. Yes, you heard correctly, Departments! Our Cape Town branch as well as the branch situated in Kempton Park each have their own Bopp bag plant.
This includes our 25 Mic Bopp bags and our locally extruded 35 Mic PP Extruded bags. What makes us special is that we manufacture bags to custom specifications. We have capacity to manufacture bags from 60mm to 550mm. These bags are also sold as 1000 bags per unit, I don’t know about you but that sounds like value for money to me!
